Fully Present in a Group Conversation
A part of contemplative listening is being aware of how a group is functioning in real-time.
Find a way to be a part of a group discussion or interaction of some kind. It does not need to be particularly serious or intense.
As you engage with the group:
- Notice your own reactions
- Speak in an authentic way
- Practice active listening
- Notice the dynamics of the group
- Who speaks?
- Who is quiet?
- Who seems to have power?
- Who doesn’t?
Act to support or invite everyone’s participation
