Week Five: Second Day

Fully Present in a Group Conversation

A part of contemplative listening is being aware of how a group is functioning in real-time.

Find a way to be a part of a group discussion or interaction of some kind. It does not need to be particularly serious or intense.

As you engage with the group:

  • Notice your own reactions
  • Speak in an authentic way
  • Practice active listening
  • Notice the dynamics of the group
  • Who speaks?
  • Who is quiet?
  • Who seems to have power?
  • Who doesn’t?

Act to support or invite everyone’s participation
